The hallways were rockin’ this morning with high fives, fist bumps, and loud cheers as we gave our Special Olympics team the send-off they deserved! We are so proud of Steele, Liam, and Paxton for representing Hill City. In our eyes, they were winners from the start — and now the whole county knows just how amazing they are! #SpecialOlympics

News from fourth grade!
Mrs. Connelly's ELA classes have been working on comparing and contrasting two texts. Students are using various graphic organizers to communicate themes, character traits and setting. Students have also been spending their Hawk Bucks to lead the morning announcements and to "purchase" Mrs. Patterson's and Dr. Kretschmar's rolling chairs!

Future Discovery Day!
Wow! What an incredible day exploring the possibilities for the future! Our Hawks had the privilege of learning from amazing professionals across various fields. They asked insightful questions, engaged in hands-on activities, and discovered exciting career paths!
Special thanks to our presenters, many of whom are from our Hill City families, who volunteered to make this event a huge success.
Keep thinking about the 3 E’s: Enrolled, Enlisted, and Employed! The future is bright, Hawks! #FutureDiscoveryDay #LeaderInMe

Celebrating Our Amazing Paraprofessionals!
Paraprofessional Appreciation Day may be on April 2nd, but we couldn't wait to show our gratitude! Today, we celebrated the dedication, care, and hard work our paraprofessionals bring to our students every day.
We hope you enjoyed lunch and your spring tulips—just a small token of our huge appreciation for all that you do. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students!

Congratulations, Evy!
We are so proud to celebrate Evy, an amazing fourth-grader, who was selected by Deputy Roach as the Campus Law Enforcement Student of the Month for March! Deputy Roach is impressed by the maturity Evy displays among her classmates. She is helpful, responsible, and a true role model for others. We have no doubt that she will continue to be "Determined to Make a Difference!"

Way to go, Kate!
Congratulations to this third grader for mastering all of her multiplication and division facts! Kate's definitely a mathematician! But her love for reading made her reward even sweeter—she chose a special trip to the Book Vending Machine!

Girl Power!
Way to perservere, ladies! Congratulations to Aspen, Mabri, Dahlia, Brianna, and Caroline for earning the Perservence Award this week. We are so proud of your hard work and determination! Keep shining and never give up!

Springtime Fun in Kindergarten!
Mrs. Abbott’s kindergarten class welcomed the season with a “Peep Day” celebration! Each student adopted a special rabbit, gave it a name, and learned how to care for their new pet.
Tying into our science standard on what living things need, students illustrated and wrote about the essentials their rabbit requires to survive—food, water, shelter, and love!

Pickens County Schools will be on Spring Break next week. Rest, relax, and enjoy! We look forward to our Hawks returning to the Hill on Monday, 4/7/2025.

2nd Grade Field Trip Fun!
Our 2nd graders had an amazing day at the Chattahoochee Nature Center yesterday! They explored the Reptiles & Amphibians program, walked along a nature trail spotting wildlife, and even got up close with a rat snake in the classroom. The fun didn’t stop there—They played and learned in the Discovery Center and wrapped up their trip with a picnic! Take a peek at Mrs. Wisniewski's and Mrs. Davis' classrooms enjoying the fun.

Tomorrow is Picture Day! Individual and class pictures will be taken. If you would like a class picture, it must be prepaid, $10, cash or check payable to Strawbridge Studios.
Helpful tip for individual pictures: It will be a full body photo, so your child's shoes will show. Also, there are no retakes for Spring Pictures.

Congratulations to this week's 4th Grade Leaderboard Leaders!
Way to go, Leighton and Shelby for earning the most points in ELA, and Judah for topping the charts in math! These leaders are crushing their personalized learning goals and setting a great example for their classmates. #LeaderInMeSchool

Ag Week Fun in Mrs. Chapman's Class!
A huge thank you to Ms. Rachel Hoffbauer with Pickens County Farm Bureau for celebrating Ag Week with our 1st and 2nd graders in Mrs. Chapman's agriculture class! We read "Logan’s Greenhouse" and had great discussions about carrots—even watching a video of a Georgia carrot farm and a family-operated commercial greenhouse. Students planted their mini greenhouse with sunflower seeds to take home. And of course, they got to taste a delicious “carrot cake dip” made by Mrs. Chapman!
To top it all off, we welcomed 8 baby chicks into the classroom on Friday!

Bravo to our talented Hill City artists!
The PACA Youth Art Show was marvelous, and we couldn’t be prouder! With 53 Hill City participants, our students’ incredible artworks received rave reviews. The candy canes using value—they were a crowd favorite! Over 200 guests attended the event, making it a wonderful celebration of creativity and talent. Thanks again to the Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance for sponsoring this annual event.
