Volunteer Information
A school volunteer is a non-paid person who serves under the direction and supervision of school personnel. A volunteer is one who performs duties that an employee could perform such as making copies, filing, sorting, escorting students, assisting with lunch duty media center or front office tasks.
Any person who leads or assists students (other than their own student) in programs or tutors a student(s) is considered a volunteer.
All volunteers will need to have a background check completed. Please follow the following process to get this taken care of:
You will need to go to the Central Office - Pickens County Board of Education (100 D.B. Carroll St. Jasper, GA 30143) to complete a Volunteer Background Check Request Form along with paying your $55 required processing fee. The fee can only be paid by exact cash, check, or money order.
Alex Prince will then reach out to you to schedule your background check based on availability of appointments. You will get this done at the Jasper Police Department. Note that they do these most Wednesdays -Fridays from 8:30am-4:30pm and close for lunch from 11:30am-1pm. The address for the JPD is 55 GG Lovell Street, Jasper GA 30143.
When you background check has been completed, please reach out to the school you wish to volunteer at to schedule a training session.
